What an exciting time to be a first-time homebuyer! Everything in the market is in your favor to help you save money and get your home. Great selection, low interest rates and many incentive programs. I would like to explain the process to you, show you how to have the seller pay your closing costs, and have you understand the pros and cons of foreclosures and short sales. I would like to teach you as much as I can from the time we meet to decide what you are looking for, through getting pre-approved for financing, what to look for when we view homes, and how to negotiate a great deal on your home.
First Steps for First Time Home Buyers
1) Get a pre-approval letter from a bank or mortgage company. It will give you the range you need to stay under, let you know what you need for a down payment, and a general idea of what your payments will be.
2) Meet with a me. Aa a realtor I have the most up-to-date list of properties. Today many properties for sale do not have a sign in the yard. Working on your own and looking for opens, gives you a narrowed version of what is available. Your perfect dream home could be right around the corner, may never have an open house, and may not even have a sign in the yard.
3) View properties. Make a list of your needs and wants for your new home, the areas you are most interested in and other concerns. The many available properties need to be narrowed down so the time you spend viewing are on the ones that are the best fit for you.
